In the polytunnel,
I rest between the onions
and beans
My body pulsating earth
after a night 
dancing into the 
early hours,
a most rare occasion 
these days  
Out of the blue, 
a beckoning - 
trance visuals 
and irregular beats,
to be danced as Goddess 
and God
Bending time and 
bending space, 
limbs long
swirled and spun
around and again
I was lost and found,
drunk only on movement
For a drop of the old poison 
would subtract, erase,
and I live to embody
each moment 
In this body, in this life, 
on this planet, at this time
Like the noticing of this tiny
spider that 
crawls now upon my wrist,
and the sensation
of calendula leaves
brushing 
against my temple
and all the time
the sound of rain

wonders of worlds,
growing surely, and 
without applause, 
in our garden
bare beauty so close -
we needn’t travel to 
distant lands 
to find holy treasure,
but land
let our mind unwind,
and give thanks for the
ground we stand on
in this sacred vessel 
we live whole,
for real beauty does not 
discriminate 
it has no care for status, glamour 
or accumulation
 — it does not impress
but awakens, the eternal,
the all

in the laughter lines, 
and the rivers of grief, 
a certain beauty moves
remember, many have had 
to leave 
for safety, for food, 
for dear life 
with no chance to return
whilst here the earth returns 
us to our destiny
asking only that we listen
 — listen deeply,
for the they that is we
call our true names now

waiting for nothing 
breeze upon leaf enlivens
    —  for eternity 

rolling in the grass
green in its most infinite,
magical carpet 

white blossom enters,
witness to a falling world - 
gentle alchemy

By the river at night,
street lights 
dance indiscriminately
to the ways of both
water and traffic

A lull in-the-midst taken,
before friends and music 
fill the room 
And I may lose myself
amongst the madness 

Open to the poetry
of this now and the next,
I willingly gather myself -
shaping all my loose parts
into a tree

Breathing in and out
of existence, the river 
carries the shadows
and bids me farewell,
 “ ‘til
tomorrow my beloved
    ‘til 
tomorrow!”

Until we wake up from our 
colonial past 
and still imperial present 
Until we all as beings are
equal, how can we be whole?
Oh, I don’t want to,
and I can’t anyway, 
save no body but myself
But on this journey through life,

Liberation is intricately 
weaved in with yours 
I am looking at wounded souls,
crushed by the violence 
that’s twisted their hearts 
As stolen lands they weep, 
to be returned to the 
wisdom keepers

As the insanity continues to prey, 
I’m calling my ancestors in from the edge
I hear their cries, loud as thunderous skies

come celebrate with me here on
this land
where ownership is in dispute
the stars shine their
light from otherwise darkest skies
and season's cool
reclaims all manner of earthly freedoms
gradually, I notice hips swinging -
a little looser they move
to harvest winter greens,

feet that feel to leap
at opportune moments
like when sunlight breaks over the
cairns

Midsummer

A midsummer light, wild and free
Burning through the dusk
with a melodious cackle 
Come celebrate the longest day, 
and reap the blessings! 
Oh timely play of day and dark,
of light and night 
Where dreamers move as polarity,
and transcend it
Play in it, then transcend it
Reaching heights in the depths, 
depths in heights 

With kindred, 
touching upon the real 
beyond the unreal
By letting go and trusting…

flickering and breathing,

each is incomparable in their essence

a unified world,
where land and sea meet in peace
Thriving amongst the wild humans

I

I travel on shadows criss crossing 
the woodland way, stepping, 
intermittently, on sun stones that 
press their quiet wisdom into the 
flesh of tender soles

I’m collecting, gathering, foraging -
being breathed and listening 
through my skin for lichen covered 
tales of the understory 

I observe dramas in miniature;
ground beetles amble,
 one 
  following 
   directly 
   behind 
  the 
other 

Quiet witness to their iridescent love, 
I’m loyal
until they slip away into a crack
between fallen branches of ash 

Journeying on through the trees,
I’m invited to rest by the oaks
Laying my head on soft mossy rock,
I sink into the woodland floor 

There, I press my own quiet wisdom 
into the leave littered soil
And together, with the rocks and trees,
we dream one another into dusk

II

‘Come, come..’
the fair folk call, barefooted and light over 
shale and grasses 
With tumbling hair, fine and untethered, 
they streak the forest gold to silver
Joined by finches and other morning birds, 
as ribbons of song unravel into day 
Playing with air, the mischief makers,
the rising melodies of Merlin that soar high,
weaving with wisps of silent cloud
Eyes shift between hawk eyes to owl,
for all is revealed at the edge of vision
Vital bodies, quivering creation
beyond the shape of time and space
Yet here they are, completely - absolutely! 
Downwards or out from the soil 
they peer 
- wild flowers, ivy, bracken
And scurrying mice, voles and badgers
Otters spotted, free and agile in play, 
basking in water, 
diving in and underneath - a family! 
All fur and shimmer, carrying nothing,
a lineage of curiosities 
knowing nothing of fear

And on the banks, 
resonant be those faeries of colour 
and delight
With their lingering chant
that lifts the wind -

‘Come swim, come be, come live!’ 

Put down that shame and take my hand 
I invite you to a dance now like no other 
I’ll lead, you’ll lead
I’ll follow, you’ll follow
Until the point comes where there is just the one,
the point where all the conditions dissolve 
and we are danced 
Limbs and resistance dissolve into divine support,
moved by mind cracking rhythms, where any gulf becomes fluidity 
The fluidity of movement,
with its heightened flight of possibilities 
beyond what we perceived before 
With this breath and sound we make it matter, 
allowing each tone unlimited manifestation
Upon sine waves, twirling children, seeing they are seen, cry of their dreams 
“Remember us! 
Our voices bold and unafraid, remember us!”

Uninhibited expression ensues, a whirlwind of wildish shapes never before made

Until finally, we collapse with exhaustion into a pool of uncontrollable laughter, our vibrating bodies speaking earth 

And we remember

Sacred Recalibration

the wind in this place
it’s enough to blow
one’s soul into
its next incarnation
with its relentless
gusts of air
whipping around
the valley all night long
to its rounds I listen
and I hear -
sacred recalibrations
of our planetary sphere

tonight it is the turn
of the crone; see the
elder moon
rise in the east
…
still cloud obscures,
occasionally revealing
the wise one
to the garden
…
rising towards descent,
a pure embodiment
of paradox, always
whole and in phases

Of Earth

Striking colours of earth,
breathing as I walk
Animating winter bones,
with vivid deep pinks
and this green
Oh this green, and that..!
Colours of life submerged
in ice cold waters,
amplified by noon light
and trickling sounds of bliss
Of all this I am made,
it breathes me, sings me,
creates me
Over and over in the image
of the divine; it is the clear mirror
by which I peer into
                                  infinity

Fragmentation

Today I allow the slow
fragmentation of mental, linear
imperatives
Feeding these to the humming
compost heap, or dropping them
to the ground as I walk fair edges
They become part of mud -
part of the cycle of life, where what is
to be done may not get done today
And by tomorrow the world
may have taken care of it in its
mysterious, mystical way
With tender ease, my body listens
only to its earthly beat
and to the day’s roar that
quickens and drops over
the orchard

Morning Haikus

this heavy body
organic and natural
a safe habitat

gentle light body
morphing in its cosmic flight
whole solar system

silver arrow

clear hearted intent
like a silver arrow
straight to the centre
of the cosmos,
propelling humanity
towards its highest evolution -
unstoppable!

the descent of lovers

at the peak of the
mountain,
the moon and time
seemed to stand
in stillness
…
it was as though death
had come early -
a contemplation of
darkness in service
to the light
and, too, the light in
service to the dark
…
this, the descent
of lovers,
that returns the
brilliance in
equal measure
to the depths
they together
traversed

           self seeded or sown

        bless this food
      harvested from
      the fertile land
       beneath our feet
      eating these roots,
      shoots and leaves
     tender, self-seeded
      or sown by hand
        giving is receiving,
         and receiving giving -
        in symbiotic truth
       of the love we are
      one with earth, and
       the elemental forces
        naturally sovereign
       her body, 
      our body

This poem emerged around the time of the last dark moon of 2024.  I love the cycles from dark moon to full moon, and round again. Living with no light pollution, the contrast of the luna wave is stark. 

Darkest of Dark Moon

Darkest of dark moon, 
be this body
As conductor of 
dark sky
and black, whole 
earth
A holy trinity,
integrated,
walks the hidden land -
senses sharpened 

Feeling as the 
crowns of ash 
and oak,
seeing as owl, 
and smelling
as fox

And with ears
of an awakened 
bear -

Bear ears!

That which,
once, could not be  
sated,
is now full,
like a cat belly round
and curled,
resting deeply
